Latvia Local time May 27, 2016,the Chinese director Professor Shang quanyu and Latvian director Professor Peteris Pildegovics of Confucius institute at Latvia University arrived at Rezekne, began to visit the school and attend the Chinese certificate awarding ceremony .
First, the two directors,the rector of Rezekne University Mr. Edmunds, teacher Ms. Antra and volunteer Chinese teacher Liang Mingxuan had a meeting. Mr. Edmunds thanked for the good cooperation between Confucius institute at Latvia University and Rezekne University during these years, Ms. Antra thanked for the hard work of volunteer Chinese teachers Liang Mingxuan. Then, the two directors and rector talked about and made a summary of Chinese language teaching situation and achievements ,and discussed some details of the opening ceremony of Confucius Classroom at Rezekne University in September 15 .Finally, everyone made a number of recommendations on the Chinese language teaching in the future , such as making the Chinese lessons included in credit courses, subscribing more suitable Chinese textbooks and opening Chinese culture interest courses ,in the hope that the Chinese teaching will be better. Subsequently, Chinese teacher Liang Mingxuan summarized her teaching in Rezekne University, she not only put forward her own deficiencies in teaching and some difficulties ,but also students’ achievements in Chinese,in the end she thanked for the school’s support and assistance work. After the meeting ， Mr. Edmunds gratituded to the volunteer Chinese teacher and sent her a book.
Later, Ms. Antra led two directors and volunteer Chinese teacher to the ongoing renovation of Confucius Classroom and teacher’s office, said that when the renovation of this classroom is completed,it will be able to provide more space and a better learning platform for learners in Rezekne in the future.
At 16:00, Chinese certificate awarding ceremony began. Two directors met the Chinese learners at classroom 314. Professor Shang quanyu encouraged students to continue to learn Chinese, to participate in summer camp or go to China to study.Professor Peteris Pildegovics answered students’ questions about Chinese learning patiently. Next, Eriks ,the student who has participated in Chinese Bridge Competition brought a poetry reading, "Snow", followed by Katja ‘s poetry reading "Early Spring", after the poetry reading, all the students sang the Chinese song "Friend". Subsequently, the two directors awarded certificates to the students and congratulated them of their completion of this year’s Chinese studying, also encouraged them to make continued efforts to learn Chinese.
After the awarding ceremony, volunteer Chinese teacher led everyone to the school library and visited Chinese culture exhibition, she introduced the exhibition to the two directors, these works were all made by the Chinese learners from Confucius Classroom at Rezekne University. When learning Chinese,students can not only learn the Chinese language, but also learn a variety of traditional Chinese culture art works, shch as paper cutting, Chinese painting, calligraphy, Chinese knot and so on. Two directors gave the outcomes of Chinese learners endless praise.
Finally, Ms. Antra was on behalf of Rezekne University , sending flowers and gifts to Chinese teacher Liang Mingxuan , thanking her working as a cultural ambassador in the Rezekne University this year . Students also sent flowers and gifts to express gratitude to the Chinese teacher and took pictures with their teacher.
