From September 25th, 2015 to October 1st ，the Chinese traditional painting exhibition，as one activity of Confucius Institute Day ，has been presented in Latvian university main building which becomes a great success.
The painter called Maria have studied in South China Normal University for 1 year with a Confucius Institute’s scholarship. She studied Chinese in the International Culture faculty and then learned the Chinese traditional landscape painting, Chinese Odalisque Bird-and-Flower Painting and calligraphy.
The exhibition includes two parts. One is the Chinese paintings which includes fourteen articles. These paintings are drawn by the author on the basis of Chinese culture of bird-and-flower，one is called Beauty Yu and The elder ，and paintings about the Azaleas, Plumeria from life. These are all in Meticulous style. Another style is freehand about the Chrysanthemum, Plumeria and plum blossom；The rest of the five paintings are Freehand figure painting，which is called Qiu Jing, Dai Ju Hua De Gu Niang Mei hua Ji Jie and Qiu Ye Qu in Chinese； the other part for the exhibition is eight pictures shot by Maria during the studying in China to show a various China for a Latvian.
In September 25th, the exhibition attracted wide attention of teachers and students in Latvia. Many people stopped to enjoy, or take photos, or discussed with Maria for hoping to learn more about the art of China. Over time the number of visitors increased significantly, there are still people come to watch until 7 p.m.
With the understanding of Chinese culture and exquisite painting skill, Maria demonstrated the charm of traditional Chinese ink and wash painting to us with much visitors’ appreciation. Chinese Odalisque flower-bird painting , the Chinese photo exhibition show the essence of Chinese culture and Latvia unique aesthetic, promotes the understanding of China and culture exchange between China and Latvia.
